This K&F Concept Camera Microphone comes presentably boxed and in the package apart from the microphone you get a foam windshield, CR2032 button cell and a decent set of illustrated instructions. We used this microphone with a Nikon D7200 DSLR on a recent trip to photograph some Kingfishers. The microphone has a claimed frequency response of 50Hz to 16KHz and an impedance of 200 Ohms. The immediate impression is of good quality product which is largely of metal construction. This mono microphone is powered by a CR2032 which should last 50-60 hours before an LED indicator flashes to warn of a low battery condition. The battery is easily fitted by opening a screwed door at the rear of the microphone. There's a short 3.5mm audio lead which plugs into the camera and the microphone is easily fitted to the camera via the integral hot shoe mount. The only control is an on/off switch which can also enhance the sensitivity by 10db. I personally prefer to use the microphone with the foam windshield on.In the field we found this microphone performed well. There was very little mechanical noise from the camera and although wind noise was kept to a minimum plenty of both foreground and background detail was captured including birdsong. The sensitivity enhancement switch produced a noticeable effect albeit at the obvious expense of slightly more noise. Because of its light weight this is an easy microphone to manage too. Overall we are delighted with the audio quality captured by this microphone and would unhesitatingly recommended it as good value solution for a DSLR or camcorder user. Recommended.(Disclosure: I was provided with a free sample for review - the opinion above is my honest view of the product).

I was very surprised with the quality and build of the K & F Professional Microphone especially at this price.Inside the box:*Microphone*CR2032 Batteries*User Guide*Wind-proof Cotton CoverThe K & F Microphone is an exceptional piece of kit and a solid bargain for the price. Build quality is excellent with a solid metal body and is on par with the more expensive £70-£100 range of Microphones. It's very simple to use, simply a matter of installing the batteries and slot it into place. The recording of sound was impressive, I used it mainly for speech audio and a few family videos shot outside, and it didn't let me down and to be honest it would be hard to differentiate between this and the slightly more expensive options. It's best to use the Mono setting for recordings that are concentrated on audio/speech and Stereo for when your in a more 'noisier' environment such as in a Club or Wedding. All in all, those looking for an inexpensive microphone but one that gives exceptionally good quality audio recording need look no further.Highly recommend

Note: The maker supplied a review sample for evaluation, the opinion of the product is my own personal viewIn the box with the microphone is a user guide, CR2032 lithium cells and a foam covering to help reduce wind noise. Simply unscrew the back and pop the battery in, top controls are very simple off, 0dB and a gain of +10dB. Being a " mini shotgun" microphone it uses the common Cardioid or heart shape pattern this is directional microphone that is most of the sound area captured is in the forward position facing the microphone but it also extends around the sides a bit giving some minor ambient pick up. This differs quite a lot from many camera on-board/built microphones which tend to pick up a lot of ambient noise and can be rather vague; in contrast this will give more focus and is useful as a general purpose microphone where you want to concentrate the sound from one area more and it's particularly well suited to interviews. Mono tends to be preferable for speech it provides more sound focus on the speaker and voice; stereo would be the choice for music/concerts both have their own place.Build is a cut above many affordable mics out there most of the body is metal and it feels rather solid in the hand, a rubber damper is present which reduces vibrations or noise pick up from the camera. On the bottom is a plastic mount which fits a normal camera hot shoe if you have a non standard one then you can pick up a cold/hot shoe adapter and it will work just fine as long as you have of course a 3.5mm microphone input. Cable is coiled and extends roughly to 30cm max. if you want to use the microphone off camera you can pick up a 3.5mm extender lead and mount it on a flash gun stand.Performance of the microphone is good for this price point you can't really find many flaws (a touch of low frequency rumble in tricky conditions) but you might want to tweak the camera settings in addition to the +10dB gain (if you can) some models have a wind cut option and adjustable gain you should use this in addition to the foam cover to reduce wind noise or to extend reach. Depth of sound is far better than many cameras which have front facing small microphones they pick up lots of wind noise and a large spread of sound this gives not only much more fidelity but it's small enough to carry around easily in the bag. The choice of a smaller lithium cell might be less appealing but at least they are cheap and easy to find (bit early to comment on battery life) a red LED will glow if power is low on this mic you briefly see it when powering it on. I'd like a small carry bag to be included bar that this is a good little microphone that's likely to appeal to those looking to do some more serious video work without a heavy outlay.

I bought this for my 70D, prior to this I had other brand, big difference. Great purchase. I'm happy with the results! No longer is there background hissing action when i edit my videos later on. I just wish the wind mus wasn't so sheddy, thing sheds worse than an actual dead cat.
