A superior tripod for anyone from amateurs to professionals
I have a couple of simple and cheap tripods that I use with my GoPro. I purchased a DSRL a few weeks ago and figured I didn’t need an expensive tripod, my current one would do the trick. But I found out the hard way, after the tripod tipped over with my DSLR and fell, that I need a better one. I really like Manfrotto tripods, but at about $200-$300, they were out of my price range.I came across this tripod with excellent reviews. I figured if I wanted a high-quality tripod, I would still be spending north of a $100, and this one was about $150. For something less than half the price of a Manfrotto tripod, this seemed like an excellent buy.I decided to place an order, and I am really happy I did. Opening up the box, you pull out a very well made and padded carrying case for the tripod. The tripod is constructed out of aluminum alloy and is very well made. This most definitely is a premium tripod and I would go as far as saying a professional one. The black and brass color scheme looks really nice giving it that extra premium look and feel.It stands at about 17 inches in length with the legs collapsed, and with the legs fully extended at 64 inches. The legs are easily adjustable using a rotating lock mechanism. They have the ability to flip 180° so you can rotate the tripod upside down to get those perfect macro shots. One of the legs has padded foam grip making it easier to carry around. The same leg also detaches from the tripod and converts into a monopod. The tripod has a decent amount of weight to it helping keep everything properly balanced, but light enough to carry it around. However, if more support in stability is needed, there is a hook at the bottom of the center shaft, letting you place more weight to help balance the tripod in uneven terrain or windy conditions. There is very little plastic on this tripod. Everything is so well made, including the aluminum the ball head, which has a bubble level on it. The plate can be easily removed and the head has the ability to pan. Pans are very smooth and you can adjust the tension by using the pan lock. This ‘budget’ tripod may have a budget price, but has a superior build quality and many features you would find only in a higher end one. This is an excellent tripod for anyone from amateurs to professionals.
