High quality, low price tripod
I've been a photographer for the past 8 years. My main job is a software engineer but on the weekends I occasionally do weddings and portraits professionally. Despite having the nicest lenses and camera money can buy I've never had a nice tripod. I still trust this old plastic tripod I purchased when I owned much lighter gear. I was contacted my K&F and asked if I wanted a sample of their tripod in exchange for my honest review and decided to give it a try. Here's what I think.Pros:+ Wow, this thing screams quality. Another reviewer here said it "oozes" quality. I think they hit the nail on the head. It's all metal, dense (but not too heavy), and everything about it is nicely made, even the carrying case.+ The price. Come on seriously?? I don't think I've ever seen a tripod this nice for the price.+ It comes with a nice ball-head. I know there are tons of ball-heads out there and I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on these but here's what I like about it. The top is adjustable and can tilt. The base of the ball-head also swivels around 360 degrees. Everything on the ball-head is metal and it easily holds my Nikon D750 with a Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR 2 lens stable.+ Two of the legs are removable if you want to turn it into a monopod. This was easy to do and works well.+ The legs are adjustable and are tightened/loosened with a twist. Once they are locked in place they don't slide, even with pressure.+ The legs can be spread out or in using these sturdy metal thumb switches. There are 3 or 4 different widths you can adjust the legs to.+ It comes with a very nice carrying case and some tools to remove the legs. The case is really nice, it has a shoulder strap and makes the tripod very compact and easy to carry.+ You can install the ball-head and camera underneath the tripod. I'm not sure exactly why you would do this but maybe if you want to take a pic really low to the ground with the tripod, putting the camera underneath will let you do that.+ There's a hook underneath that let's you hang a weighted bag, backpack, or something heavy for additional stability. This is really helpful in keeping your tripod ultra steady when it's windy.Cons:- Be careful when unscrewing the legs that you don't screw them all the way off and then pull them out completely. If you accidentally remove a section of the leg, it's a bit of a pain to figure out how to put it back in. I had to take another out slowly and see how it fit back in, in-order to get the leg back in place.- It weighs about 5 pounds with the ball-head included. I don't mind the weight personally but it's something to think about if you were planning on carrying this all over the place. In conclusion this is a high quality, all metal, well priced tripod that does exactly what it's supposed to do. If you're looking for a very sturdy tripod and you don't mind the weight, this is going to be hard to beat for the price. This is the second photography item I've reviewed from K&F and I am blown away by the quality of their products for the price point they are selling them. An easy 5 star review if there ever was one.
